I want to ask what's wrong with my laptop. I have this laptop for almost a year and half already and it present a problem to me now. Whenever my battery is low, I plugged the charger. Once plugged, the battery percentage automatically set to 100%. Even after long hours of charging, when I unplug it--it shutdowns. This happens most of the times and sometimes it goes to normal. Another problem is if use it when not charged. It automatically shutdown and can't be boot unless charged. What's the best thing to do?

@Shirozo, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your Battery Issue!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
It sounds like you are experiencing several significant battery-related issues with your laptop. Here are some common causes and potential solutions:
1. Battery Calibration Issue: Your laptop may have a battery calibration problem where the battery percentage is not accurately reported. This may cause the laptop to indicate 100% charge erroneously. To recalibrate the battery:
- Full Charge and Discharge: Fully charge the battery to 100%, then use the laptop until the battery drains completely and the laptop shuts down.
- Repeat Cycle: Charge it again to 100% without interruption, and repeat this cycle 2-3 times. This can help the system recalibrate and provide more accurate charge readings.
2. Battery Health: The battery may be deteriorating. Laptop batteries typically degrade over time, and if your laptop is experiencing frequent shutdowns when not plugged in, the battery might be losing its ability to hold a charge.
- Check Battery Health: Many laptops have a built-in tool to check battery health. You can also use third-party software or the HP Support Assistant for HP laptops.
3. BIOS Update: Sometimes, a firmware update can resolve battery issues. Check if there is a BIOS update available for your laptop model.
- Update BIOS: Ensure that all drivers and the BIOS are up to date. For HP laptops, you can check for updates using the HP Support Assistant.
4. Power Adapter: The power adapter may be faulty. If the laptop is not receiving consistent power, it may cause battery-related issues.
- Check Power Adapter: Try using a different power adapter that is compatible with your laptop to see if it resolves the issue.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
