Sometimes when I plug in the charger after waking up and powering on the laptop for work, the charging light starts blinking. I leave it below or on 20% the night before and shut it down, and then I press the power button to completely shut it down, draining the power from the capacitor, and then I plug it in. The charging occurs normally, but then suddenly its at 100%.

Hi @Muzi919, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The blinking charging light and sudden jump to 100% charge could indicate one of the following issues:
Possible Causes & Solutions:
1. Battery Calibration Issue
Your laptop battery may not be reporting its actual charge level correctly.
Solution:
- Perform a battery calibration:
- Charge the laptop to 100% and keep it plugged in for 2 hours.
- Unplug and use the laptop until it shuts down due to low battery.
- Leave it off for 2-3 hours.
- Plug it in and charge it to 100% without turning it on.
2. Power Management Bug (Windows 11)
Windows sometimes misreads the battery percentage due to driver issues.
Solution:
- Update the BIOS & battery drivers from HP Support Assistant or HP’s website.
- Run "powercfg /batteryreport" in Command Prompt (as administrator) and check if the battery report shows sudden jumps.
3. Battery Hardware Issue
If the laptop is over a year old, the battery may be aging or defective.
Solution:
- Run HP’s built-in Battery Check from HP Support Assistant.
4. Charger or Charging Circuit Issue
A faulty charger or charging circuit can cause unstable power delivery.
Solution:
- Try a different compatible HP charger.
- Check the charging port for dust/debris.
- If possible, test with another Victus laptop’s charger.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
