OMEN by HP 15-DC0020NT
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So, I just bought this computer the model is OMEN by HP 15-DC0020NT.

I was gaming a little and my friend told me it could increase my gaming performance. So I looked it up on the internet and I saw my bios version is older then it should be. I looked in my bios,my version is F . 07 and the bios version on my driver page is

f.08 so i guess it is a bit old. I want to update it but i heard it could ruin my computer if i dont download it good.

So I cant get it to the service and I am kinda afraid to try it by myself 😄 So I was just asking can you guys just help me with a

guide or something? Cause I couldn't understand it from the HP and other websites. By the way I am using Windows 10 64 Bit.

Hello @KnownAsJAM

My personal opinion, I don't always encourage updating the bios unless you absolutely need to.

If everything is working right now, I would leave well enough alone.

Yes on some occasions, if the bios update process fails as its writing to the motherboard chip, you might brick the system. It doesnt happen very often, but yes it could potentially happen.

Also, just because a bios update is newer, does not mean better. On occasion, sometimes an update could cause issues that might slow your system down for example. I have not heard of F.08 doing anything bad to the Omen lineup, just so you know.

If everything is working right now, I would say... don't worry about updating the bios.

If you feel you want it anyway, here is the link to the file you need.

Download it and run it. Do not have any other tasks running while updating and make sure to have your power cord plugged in.  sp95163.exe

Notes about this update... ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp95001-95500/sp95163.html
