I wanted to update the bios, I followed all of the steps from disabling anti virus to bitlocker. The problem occured when I had to restart the laptop, so I restarted it, but now it has been stuck on the loading circle saying that its updating and to keep the laptop turned on for an hour if not more. My laptop has rtx 3050 ti, amd ryzen 5600H, also its an omen laptop, 16-c0xxx. I'm not sure what the problem is or how to solve it, but when in the hp website I was asked to select the version of windows 11 i was using, I selected the basic windows 11 though mine is windows 11 23H2, but they didn't have that option. Could the problem be related to that?

The windows OS versions available are for drivers that are needed for those OS such as window 7, 8 , 10 etc.

The BIOS is good for all laptops with the same ROM SSID but the install may not work if the OS does not support the executable.  An install of a windows 7 bios on windows 11 normally works as the .exe is run as a windows 7 app.

If your system has not been corrupted you can try installing using a flash drive that boots up and install the bios.  That is an option during the download and and setup of the BIOS.

You did not mention your product id so I had to guess at it and I looked at a bios revision history and did not see anything that needed to be updated after F.19

Did you run diagnostics before you did the update?

Tap the ESC key after powering on to run diagnostics.
Do not allow any updates if disk or memory fail, especially a BIOS update.

It is always dangerous to upgrade bios. Unless there is a real need and the HP support assistant requests the upgrade, I would not do it. Look at the BIOS revision history and see if an upgrade is useful. Updates that improve security are needed in a corporate environment but for gaming system they will likely slow down your system.
I personally would not upgrade any gaming BIOS that was only security related unless the PC was used in a corporate, industrial or military organization.

Check your warranty and decided if you want to risk a BIOS upgrade like these users did
