Subject:* BIOS Locked on Newly Purchased Laptop

 

*To whom it may concern,*

 

My name is *Aminu Muhammad Seyoji*, and I am writing to report an issue with a laptop I purchased *today, 23rd November 2025*.

 

*Device Information:*

- *Product Name:* HP EliteBook 840 G4  

- *Serial Number:* >Do not include the product serial number or any private information.<

- *Processor:* Intel Core i5-7200U @ 2.50GHz  

- *Memory Size:* 8GB RAM  

- *BIOS Version:* Q80 Ver. 01.07.00  

- *Date of Purchase:* 23/11/2025  

- *Condition:* [State if new or fairly used]

 

*Issue:*  

The BIOS is locked with a password, and I was not informed of this before the purchase. I am now unable to access or change important system settings.

 

*Request:*  

I kindly request assistance in unlocking or resetting the BIOS password. I am ready to provide proof of purchase and identity as needed.

A quick community search for the terms BIOS & Password finds all these posts >here<, which are mainly closed with the below explanation:

 

Unfortunately, you will need to contact an HP agent for problems with BIOS passwords.

Here is HP's official policy regarding BIOS passwords:

 

According to the Community's Rules of Participation:

 

4d. No posts shall include instructions/directions intended to bypass or subvert security mechanisms such as lock screens, BitLockers, BIOS lock, passwords, fingerprint/biometry scanners, PINs, or any other safety measures.

 

Therefore, this topic is being locked. If you would like help resetting the password on your product, please Contact HP support in your region.
