HP OMEN 15-dc1011na Gaming Laptop - NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 2070
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I purchased this brand new Gaming Laptop 1 week ago, I have booted it up a handful of times since I got it and it seems to get stuck on booting, I have to hold the power button in for 6 seconds and power it on again. It seems fine once booted but surely this isn't a good sign.

In the Event Viewer System Events I can I can see the Kernal Power Error from when I hold the power button in to reboot it but not the cause of the freeze up.Stays frozen on this screen.Stays frozen on this screen.

you can't do anything but power it off and back on again, so far it has started ok on second attempt but I'm not happy with it, it being brand new.

To confirm I haven't done anything to this laptop other than install Steam and a couple of games.

Has anyone else experienced similar problems?

I had done all the hardware diagnostics and  Driver updates.

**UPDATE::  Just had a BIOS update and Laptop has booted up without needing a hard reboot, I hope it is going to be OK now.

Kind Regards

David

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

As a new computer, there will be tons of new software and driver event will be processing at the background.
Hence, I would recommend, please update all relevant software drivers from:

Windows Update and HP Support Assistant

To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.Install updates from HP Support Assistant:  Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.

  1. To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon https://support.hp.com/doc-images/932/c05040382.jpg.
  2. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  3. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  4. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  5. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  6. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install once it's done restart your computer this should fix the issue.

Also, follow this way to shut down the laptop,

  • Click the ‘Windows’ button at the bottom left-hand corner of your screen.
  • Click Shut down.

Let's keep this computer under observation for next few days and please keep me posted if you've come across an issue.
