Hi, the built-in camera of my Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 15-fb0xxx is undetected by the system since a few weeks.
The PC keeps telling me the camera is not connected, which is kind of funny to read, as it is litteraly built-in.
It only appears greyed in the device manager when I tick the "show hidden devices" parameter.
Here is what I already tried :
- Restarting PC
- Running troubleshooter
- Right click in the Device manager, "Update driver" (no update was found)
- Right click in the Device manager, "Scan for hardware changes" (nothing happened)
- Checking if there are any physical button to lock / unlock camera on my device (there is none)
- Finding myself drivers on the HP website. It turns out there are no webcam drivers for my PC there, as shown in this screen:
Any ideas?
Thank you for your help.

Hi @Baroudindon,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I understand that you are having issues with your camera.
- There are various reasons that a computer displays this error message when opening the Camera app.
- If the error message We can't find your camera. Error code: 0xa00f4244<NoCamerasAreAttached> is displayed when you open the Camera app, use the steps in this document to troubleshoot the issue.
Verify that your computer has a camera installed
- Take a moment to visually inspect the top of your computer monitor. If your computer has a webcam, you should see a small lens in the top center, above the screen. Some models do not come with a webcam and the area where the webcam would normally reside is replaced by a small plastic plug.
- Also, you might go to HP Customer Support to check for a webcam in the product specifications for your computer.
- Note: Often, there are small holes near the top center of your monitor. These holes are for the microphone or other sensors and do not contain a webcam.
- If your computer does not have a built-in webcam, you must use an external USB webcam.
- If your computer has a built-in webcam and you cannot use it, find and use the webcam software that came with your computer.
Check for a webcam in the product specifications for your computer. Go to HP Customer Support and enter your product name. For help finding your product name, go to HP PCs -Computer Does Not Start (Windows 10, 😎 .

Hi Elohi_NR.
My computer has a built-in camera, and I used it with no problem for almost two years before this problem occured. Even if the computer tries to gaslight me into thinking that it has no camera, I can still clearly see the lens of the camera on top of the screen. It is not gone.
"If your computer has a built-in webcam and you cannot use it, find and use the webcam software that came with your computer."
I tried this, as written above in my post. My computer is a Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 15-fb0xxx. There is no webcam software for that model on the HP Customer Support website.

Indeed, I already completed these steps and none is working.
Thank you for trying to help,
Baroudindon
