HP - OMEN
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought a laptop for my son around a year ago - HP - OMEN 15.6” Gaming Laptop - Intel® CoreTM i7, RTX 2060, 512 GB

SSD. He is using it on a daily basis. From day one we noticed that the fan in it is very noisy and works constantly, even on idle. Simple web browsing with no background processes (CPU utilisation around 10%) causes the CPU temp to reach 48-50 Celsius. When he switches on some online games, which are not even graphically demanding (like Minecraft), temperature jumps to 70-80 Celsius. Yesterday while he was playing some more demanding games the temperature reached 97 Celcius! Is that normal? I was expecting for the machine with that spec to be able to deal with online gaming much better and work much more silently! My daughter has a far lower spec laptop which seems to deal with some online games much easier and with much less noise (don't know how to measure CPU temperature of her laptop). Would appreciate any piece of advice.

@b4c, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand the Notebook is heating up. Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

Install updates using HP Support Assistant

  1. In the search box, type and open HP Support Assistant.
  2. Check for updates.
  3. If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Note: If you do not have HP Support Assistant installed, Click here to download the same.

Also, check for any pending windows update. Reboot the computer.

Perform the steps mentioned in this document - Reducing Heat Inside the Laptop to Prevent Overheating

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
