Hello, I’ve had this device for a year now, but after I sent my computer for servicing last month, problems like this started occurring. While playing games, my FPS suddenly drops from 70-80 to 4-5. After some research and checking the Omen Gaming Hub, I noticed a GPU drop. My GPU Clock core and memory values suddenly drop to 500-600 MHz. I’ve updated everything, including BIOS, Windows, and firmware, and my power settings are set to performance.

Hi @Emre31,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I understand how frustrating it can be to experience performance issues after a service, especially when you're trying to enjoy your gaming sessions. Let's try to get your FPS back on track!
To help further diagnose the issue:
- Did you notice if the FPS drops happen only during certain games or when the laptop reaches a specific temperature?
- Have you monitored your CPU and GPU temperatures using software like HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner?
- Were there any changes to the cooling system (like thermal paste or fans) during servicing?
Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
Check for Throttling Due to Temperature:
- High temperatures can cause the GPU to throttle down to prevent overheating. Use a temperature monitoring tool like HWMonitor to check your GPU and CPU temperatures while gaming. If they get too high (over 85°C), your laptop may throttle its performance to avoid damage.
Revert to Default Power Plan Settings:
- Even if you have set your power plan to "High Performance", ensure that the Power Option in Windows is configured properly. Go to Control Panel > Power Options, and set the plan to High Performance. Make sure Intel Graphics Power Plan or any other energy-saving settings are disabled.
Reinstall GPU Drivers:
- Sometimes, driver issues can cause instability. Uninstall your GPU drivers completely through Device Manager (right-click Display Adapters > Uninstall device) and reinstall the latest drivers from NVIDIA or use the GeForce Experience app to ensure everything is up-to-date.
Disable V-Sync and Frame Rate Caps:
- In the NVIDIA Control Panel or OMEN Command Center, check if V-Sync or any frame rate limiters are turned on, as these can sometimes lead to drops in performance. Disable these settings to test if it improves FPS stability.
Check BIOS and Thermal Settings:
- Since you updated your BIOS, it’s worth revisiting the settings. Some laptops have advanced thermal settings or throttling configurations in the BIOS. Restart your laptop, enter BIOS (usually by pressing F10 during boot), and ensure that thermal management is set to a balanced or performance mode.
These steps should help stabilize your performance.

I have tried all of these steps, but I’m still experiencing FPS drops. Also, when I set the FPS to 30, there are no drops, but other issues arise. This is really frustrating.
The temperatures reach 89°C, but the sudden drop in my GPU values can’t be due to that
