Hp Pavillion Gaming
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just bought Hp Pavillion AMD - 5800H + RTX 3050. It has been around 3-4 weeks since my purchase and I am seeing a weird issue. The CPU is dropping to 0.38 GHz whenever I am opening any game. Note the AC Adapter is plugged in and the power mode is selected for high performance. I have ran the extensive stress test everything came fine there. I have tried restoring the BIOS that solution is also not working. I have also noted the temperatures are fine 40-60 C.  The fps drop to 1-10 from 60-70. The clock speed moves from 3.4ghz to 0.38ghz and then climbs up and then again the same pattern continues. This is very annoying. Please help me out ASAP.

Update: I did a reset it didn't work. However, I am noticing an issue more prominent now. The CPU is showing such behaviour when plugged with an AC adapter. On Battery, it is running fine.

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I understand FPS is dropping while playing games. In some situations, your CPU may slow down while you are playing a game. This can be caused by overheating, or CPU consumption.

There are many ways to increase FPS and system performance:

  • Update the BIOS.

For notebook PCs, go to HP Notebook PCs - Updating the BIOS

  • Update the graphics driver.

Go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, enter your PC model, then select the driver for your graphics card.

  • Most games allow you to change the graphics settings. Using a lower graphic quality often improves FPS.

  • Close any applications or programs that are not being used.

  • Turn on Game Mode. Game Mode is a new feature in Windows 10 Creators Update that improves gaming performance by limiting background processes and programs from using system resources while a game is running.

    1. Press the Windows key and G to open the Game bar.

    2. In the game bar, click Settings.

    3. Click the check box next to the game title to enable Game Mode for that game.

Plug notebook PCs into an AC adapter to give the graphics card more power.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
