Dear HP Support Team,

I am facing an issue with my HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop (15-ec2xxx). Earlier, around 6 months ago, I was able to run Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) smoothly without any issues. However, recently the game has become unplayable, as it is constantly giving me an average of only 4–5 FPS, even on the lowest settings.

No major hardware or external changes have been made on my side, and other applications are working normally. I have also tried basic troubleshooting like updating drivers, but the issue persists.

Could you please help me resolve this performance problem?

Laptop Specifications:

  • Model: HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-ec2xxx

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5

  • Graphics: AMD Radeon Graphics (integrated) + NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 (dedicated)

  • Issue: CS2 constantly running at 4–5 FPS (previously worked perfectly fine)

Looking forward to your support and guidance.

Best regards,

PrajeshRawat

Hello @prajesh07 ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

If you're experiencing issues running CS2 (likely referring to a version of Counter-Strike) on your HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-ec2xxx, here are some steps you can take to address and potentially resolve the problem:

  1. Update Graphics Drivers:

    • Ensure your graphics drivers are up to date. Visit the official NVIDIA or AMD website to download the latest drivers for your specific GPU.
    • Alternatively, use the HP Support Assistant to check for and install updated drivers from HP.
  2. System Requirements:

    • Verify that your laptop meets the minimum requirements for CS2 in terms of CPU, GPU, RAM, and storage.
  3. Adjust In-Game Settings:

    • Lower graphics settings within CS2 to see if performance improves. This includes resolution, graphics quality, and disabling features like anti-aliasing or shadows that can be demanding on your system.
  4. Check for System Updates:

    • Make sure your operating system is up to date by checking for updates under Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  5. Optimize System Performance:

    • Close unnecessary background applications and processes to free up system resources.
    • Enable Game Mode in Windows. Go to Settings > Gaming > Game Mode and toggle it on for better performance during gameplay.
  6. Verify Game Files:

    • If using a platform like Steam, verify the integrity of game files. This can resolve issues related to missing or corrupted game files.
    • Right-click on the game in your library, select Properties, then go to the Local Files tab and click "Verify integrity of game files."
  7. Disable Background Overlays:

    • Disable any unnecessary background overlays, such as Discord or NVIDIA GeForce Experience overlay, which can sometimes interfere with game performance.
  8. Check Thermal Management:

    • Ensure the laptop has adequate cooling. Regularly clean vents and consider using a cooling pad.
    • Check your laptop's power plan and set it to 'High performance' under Control Panel > Power Options.

Further Support

If these steps do not resolve the issue, consider reaching out to HP Support for further assistance or consult the game's support resources for specific troubleshooting steps. Additionally, visiting gaming forums related to CS2 might provide insights from other users facing similar issues.
