Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
Hi there, I would like to be able to run ACAD 3DS max on my laptop. Is it possible to install a new graphics card on my laptop? I’m not sure if this is possible?

I have a 15-au164na Pav i7/8GB/256SSD S with no modifications.

Thanks

Hi:

There is no removable, upgradable graphics 'card' in your notebook such as in many desktop PC's.

In your model series and any other consumer notebook made in the last 10+ years, the graphics adapters are chips that are integrated into the motherboard.

The only way to upgrade the graphics would be to replace the entire motherboard with one listed in the service manual for your notebook that may include better graphics.

Doing that would probably cost as least as much as buying a new notebook with better graphics included.

I thought that may be the case. I take it my laptop would struggle then using the software even at beginner level?

I imagine it would with just the onboard Intel graphics.

Other than that the notebook is very well equipped.

When you want to use a notebook size device for advanced graphics uses such as autocad, etc, I would recommend you look into the HP ZBook business workstation line of products.

They are very expensive, but they would do what you need them to do.
