Hi @Tkuyita

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

The blinking pattern of 5 long and 3 short caps lock lights on your HP Victus 16 s0011 laptop indicates a hardware issue, specifically related to the system board or BIOS

Here's how you can address it:

Steps to Resolve:

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the laptop and disconnect all external devices (USB drives, peripherals, etc.).
  • Unplug the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to discharge residual power.
  • Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then try turning the laptop on.

Restore BIOS:

  • If the issue persists, attempt a BIOS recovery:
    • Turn off the laptop completely.
    • Press and hold the Win + B keys while also holding down the Power button for 2-3 seconds.
    • Release the Power button but keep holding the Win + B keys until you hear beeps or see the HP BIOS Recovery screen.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to restore the BIOS.

Run Hardware Diagnostics:

  • HP laptops often have a built-in diagnostic tool. Press F2 during startup to access the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Run a full system test to check for hardware issues.

Hi @Tkuyita

You are Welcome!

Since you've identified that the problem is linked to your RAM configuration, here's what you can do next:

1. Test RAM Modules

  • Test each RAM module individually in different slots to confirm if one of the modules or slots is faulty.
  • If one module works fine but the other doesn't, the problematic module may need replacement.

2. Check RAM Compatibility

  • Ensure the RAM modules are compatible with your laptop. HP Victus 16 typically supports DDR4-3200 MHz RAM. Using incompatible RAM can cause errors.
  • Refer to the HP Support Community for detailed compatibility information.

3. Update BIOS

  • Visit the HP Support website to check for BIOS updates for your laptop. Updating the BIOS can resolve hardware compatibility issues.

4. Run Hardware Diagnostics

  • Use the built-in HP PC Hardware Diagnostics tool:
    • Restart your laptop and press F2 during startup.
    • Run a full system test to check for hardware issues.
