Hello,
I purchased my HP Omen laptop just four days ago. It was working perfectly until two days ago when the charger suddenly stopped charging the battery. I took the laptop to a local tech hub for diagnostics, and we confirmed that the charger is not the issue — it functions correctly with another system.
Given this, I suspect one of the following possibilities:
Best-case scenario: a faulty battery — though this seems unlikely, as the battery was holding a charge properly before it ran low.
Worst-case scenario: a hardware fault involving the battery charging circuit or the Battery Management Integrated Circuit (BMIC), which I’ve seen reported by others in community forums like Reddit.
Additionally, please note that the laptop was shipped from an Asian country, in case that has any bearing on warranty coverage or regional support.
I would appreciate any guidance or assistance you can provide, especially considering the device is practically brand new.
Thank you.

@Davidpeta, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
You can try the following:
Battery Driver Reset
Open Device Manager
Expand Batteries
Right-click and uninstall both:
Microsoft AC Adapter
Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery
Reboot — Windows will reinstall the drivers.
HP Support Assistant Diagnostic
Install and run HP Support Assistant (if not already installed).
Run the battery and hardware diagnostics for detailed reporting.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for your response.
Unfortunately, the issue still persists. I discovered that the laptop only powers on when the battery is disconnected. When I reconnect the battery while the laptop is running, it shows 100% charge. However, once the AC power is removed, the laptop shuts down immediately.
I followed the instructions regarding the battery driver, including reinstalling it, but there was no improvement.
For your information, the battery has been tested on a similar HP Omen laptop and functions perfectly.
I was also unable to complete the HP hardware and battery diagnostics via the app, as the laptop shutting down immediately after unplugging the charger caught me off guard.
