Hello, I have an HP Victus 16-r1006ns laptop with the following specifications: Intel Core i7-14700HX processor, NVIDIA RTX 4070 GPU, 32 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM (2×16 GB), and a 1 TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD. I'm planning to make two upgrades (storage and RAM) and would like to confirm a few details before proceeding.
First, I would like to replace the current SSD with a Samsung 990 Pro 2 TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD without a heatsink. I’d like to confirm whether this model is fully compatible with my laptop, both technically (M.2 PCIe Gen4 interface, 2280 size) and physically (available space in the M.2 slot). My understanding is that the version without a heatsink should avoid any clearance issues.
Second, I would like to upgrade the RAM to 64 GB, using a Crucial DDR5 SODIMM 2×32 GB 5600 MT/s CL46 kit. I would like to confirm if this kit is fully compatible with my system, if it’s stable to run 64 GB (2×32 GB) on this model without BIOS or hardware issues, and whether it’s true that—even if the modules are rated for 5600 MT/s—the actual speed will be limited to 4800 MT/s, which I understand is the effective maximum supported by the motherboard.
I appreciate any technical confirmation or recommendations to ensure both upgrades can be performed safely and effectively on this model.
Kind regards,
Rubén

]Hi @RRetamozo
With a second disk slot, the laptop supports any size Gen 4 disk you want. It supports 64 GB of DDR5-5600 ram, according to the specifications that is the frequency that should work.
