Correct Upgrade Ram for Pavilion Gaming laptop

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello.  I have an HP 15" Pavilion Signature Edition Gaming Laptop, Model -15-AK099NR.  It came with 8 GB of Ram installed.  I want to upgrade to 16 GB.  I bought Crucial NOTEBOOK DDR3L-1600 SODIMM, 8gb CHIP.  According to the Crucial website, they said this was the proper RAM for this model number.  After installation System info reports a total of 16 GB of Ram, but the laptop is much slower, not only in boot-up, but overall performance.  Did I install the correct RAM?  Thanks

Since the memory recommended by Crucial on their website is guaranteed to work, I suggest contacting their Tech Support for help.  They are experts on their products.  Also, they have always been very helpful when I contact them.
