Hi! I have a Victus Gaming Laptop 16-r0016ua (A2BK4EA), and I'm experiencing crackling in the left speaker when playing audio at low volume. The driver is up to date. The crackling isn't constant. During tests, the audio clearly comes from the left side. I removed the back cover and found no damage or debris on the speaker. What could be causing this?

Hi @Dmytro_MY,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for the detailed info, and great job checking the hardware already. Based on your description of intermittent crackling from the left speaker at low volume on your Victus Gaming Laptop 16-r0016ua (A2BK4EA), let’s try a few steps to try and fix the issue.

1. Disable Audio Enhancements

  • Right-click the speaker icon > Sound settings.
  • Under Output, click your speaker > Properties.
  • Go to the Enhancements tab and check “Disable all enhancements”.
  • Also, check the Advanced tab and uncheck “Allow applications to take exclusive control”.

2. Switch to Microsoft’s Generic Audio Driver

  • Open Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers.
  • Right-click your audio device (e.g., Realtek) > Update driver > Browse my computer > Let me pick from a list.
  • Choose High Definition Audio Device (Microsoft).
  • Restart and test the audio.

3. Test with External Audio

  • Plug in headphones or external speakers.
  • If the crackling disappears, the issue is likely hardware-related (speaker or amplifier).

4. BIOS and Firmware Update

5. HP Hardware Diagnostics

  • Restart your laptop and press Esc, then F2 to enter diagnostics.
  • Run the Audio Test to check for hardware faults.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
