I want to run two monitors while gaming. I have my laptop screen inactive (disconnected in display settings) and the two external monitors hooked up via a Display Link pluggable USB 3.0 Docking Station. It works fine when doing anything other than gaming... while gaming there is SO much lag and the graphics are terrible.
If I do not use the docking station at all, and one external monitor directly plugged into the laptop's HDMI port it works great... if I do this while the docking station is connected because my mouse and keyboard alone are plugged into the docking station's USB ports, it also causes the same terrible lag while gaming which seems strange.
Is there a better docking station that can handle what I want? or even better (cheaper), can I just get an HDMI splitter for the port on my laptop and run two monitors that way?
Thanks for any assistance!

The ROT is: resolution goes up, refresh rate will go down and vice versa. Now you use 2 monitors therefore resolution is double therefore the refresh rate would down 50% that may explain why.
It should work when doing normal works which do not require faster refresh rate.
Regards.
