Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, I have an Omen 15 that comprises of:

12GB RAM

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 with Max-Q Design
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8750H CPU @ 2.20GHz
Windows 10 64-bit
 
I bought this laptop a year ago and this problem has accompanied it since. It would run perfectly when it's unplugged but as soon as I plug the charger, the fans would go mad, the heat would rise up to extreme levels, and performance would take a heavy hit. This problem defeats the purpose of acquiring this laptop, which was gaming.
 
To illustrate this, if I play Middle Earth: Shadow of War with the laptop unplugged, it would run smoothly on ultra with 0 problems, no FPS drop, minimal sound and heat. However, as soon as I plug the charger, the same game would become literally unplayable.  I have tried undervolting as a possible solution but the problem persists. I have factory reset my laptop and the issue hasn't been fixed. I tried everything I could find online and yet nothing has changed.
 
Most people tend to have the opposite problem where games are harder to run unplugged, but I can't seem to find a solution for mine and it has been beyond frustrating. Any help will be very appreciated!

I understand that the Extremely low performance when charger is plugged in.

 

There are many ways to increase FPS and system performance: 

  • Update the BIOS. 

For desktop PCs, go to HP Desktop PCs - Updating the BIOS. 

For notebook PCs, go to HP Notebook PCs - Updating the BIOS 

  • Update the graphics driver. 

Go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, enter your PC model, then select the driver for your graphics card. 

  • Most games allow you to change the graphics settings. Using a lower graphic quality often improves FPS. 

  • Close any applications or programs that are not being used. 

  • Turn on Game Mode. Game Mode is a new feature in Windows 10 Creators Update that improves gaming performance by limiting background processes and programs from using system resources while a game is running.
