FPS is extremely low when playing some games

Hi, 

Hope anyone can help me with this since I'm not very good with computers myself. 

My HP omen was always doing alright regarding the FPS while playing games, for example, while playing league of legends I have no big issues. However, I just installed a new game which I thought would be easier to run but the framerate is so bad I can't even play. Anyone that can help me with this?

Please tell us the model of Omen you have so we can figure out what hardware it has and then the title of the game. The obvious thing to ask is what are the minimum and recommended hardware requirements for the game and does the laptop meet them?

Hi, thanks for your fast reply. I have an hp omen 17w000ND. The game that is currently not working is Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy

i5-6300 and nVidia GeForce 960M 2 gb video.

Its not a terribly demanding game and your laptop should meet the minimum specs. Are you sure the game has been set to run from the dedicated nVidia card and not the Intel card?

I've set it to run from the Nvidia card and it seems to be working a lot better! My laptop is making very loud noises but that's okay haha as long as I can play it. Thanks for your help!

Yes when you are stressing the dedicated video card the fans will kick in hard as they are designed to do. You may want to install something like the speedfan app to monitor temperatures but that is only a precaution.
