Hi,

When I enter the laptop's bios setup, the fans begin to spin constanly and loudly.

Once I exit the setup, the excessive spinning stops.

Is this is normal?

Best,

Hello @stas3000

Was this the replacement laptop that I read you just received recently?

Do you remember if the other laptop did this also?

To me its not common for the fan to run full speed during bios. None of my laptops do this. Fortunately yours doesnt do this after booting to Windows. It might be the bios version. Which one is does your laptop have?

You can open the HP Support Assistant and go to Specifications to see which bios version is installed.

The latest is F.13  If its an earlier version, you can update the bios with this file.... sp99188.exe

TIP: Dont use the HP Support Assistant or Windows updates to update the bios. Use the direct file download above.

Hi Photoray002,

Thank you for your reply!

Indeed, this is the new laptop.

When I first got it, I've entered the booting menu, and the it was quiet throuhout all of the submenus

(hardware diagnostics, boot manager, bios setup, etc.)

Now it blows air on every single screen prior booting into windows.

I've installed the new version of the Bios with the link that you've provided, but unfortunately it didn't resolve the problem.

Currently,  the Bios version according to hp assistant is F.04, and according to bios setup menu it is F.13.

Adittionally, the Core Temp app is displaying over 90 °C cpu temperature, shortly after logging in to windows -

screenshots is attached.

I would highly appreciate any solution that does not involve initiating another replacement process.

Thank you,

So I'm still unclear as to whats happening since I'm not there to actually see this process.

IF you first boot the laptop, as its starting up and just before Windows is fully booted, the laptop fan will run at full speed momentarily. This is normal.

Its not normal if the fan speed runs full speed the entire time you have the actual bios open. So I'm not sure I'm getting what you mean, sorry. Do make sure your vents are not blocked by setting the laptop on a bed or such. Needs a hard surface.

Is your system fully updated via Window updates? If not, do this first.

  • You have to go to Updates and Security and force it to search. Click on the updates button, even if it shows its up to date. If it finds some, let it run then reboot and do it again until no more are found.

Your HP Support Assistant might need to be updated too.  It needs to be updated from the Assistant itself.

  • Go to the top corner of the window and click on About with the question mark next to it. Then choose to check for latest version.

Tools like core temp, HWMonitor, etc etc, have a current, min and max temp column. The max column is not what the laptop is running at currently. Its a register of what the CPU peaked at momentarily (could only be a micro second) and my systems will do this momentarily also. Although a peak at 90 is high if not gaming and I'm not sure what is happening there, but its not going to shut down the system at 90. I would double check with another tool like HWMonitor. See what it says also. Sometimes one tool might not work the same as another.

Make sure you turn off any unnecessary programs that are starting up in the background. Go to the Task Manager/Startup tab to check this. You can disable most things, just don't disable your antivirus, which I assume you are only using the default Windows Defender.

If none of this is helpful, there is not much else I can do here. I'm afraid you would have to speak with an HP agent for "warranty" issues.

Hi,

Thank you again for your effort,

I think that I'll try to contact the technical support once again,  to hear their opinion.

Best,
