I was playing Roblox about two nights ago and my laptop just suddenly shut off. I assumed the battery was dead and I wasn’t charging it properly but it was fully plugged in and no power was being sent at all. There was no light from the charging port. Does this mean that the charging port is faulty? Or do you guys think my board is ruined? 😞

@Marzey876, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding charging issue!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Check the Power Adapter:

  • Ensure the power adapter is connected securely to both the laptop and the power outlet.
  • Try using a different power outlet to eliminate issues with the power source.
  • If possible, test with another compatible power adapter to see if the problem persists.

Inspect the Charging Port:

  • Look for any debris or damage in the charging port. Clean it gently with a soft brush or compressed air.
  • Wiggle the charging connector to see if there's any intermittent connection.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect all external devices.
  • Remove the battery if it's removable.
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then try turning on the laptop.

Check for LED Indicators:

  • Look for any LED lights on the laptop that might indicate power or charging status. If there are no lights, this could point towards an issue with the charging port or the motherboard.

Test the Battery:

  • If you have a removable battery, try using a different one if available, or test the battery voltages with a multimeter.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
