Full Audio problem
03-16-2021 03:59 PM

Hi, I been having some issues with my laptops audio and microphone lately. The microphone don't work with any applications also I have made sure that microphone is not blocked in curtain apps in the settings, after looking online I decided to install the needed drivers from Realtek because that's the microphones on this laptop ( i did make sure that it was a microphone driver before installing it) after rebooting I noticed that the speaker has stopped working in fact its telling me to plug the speaker and microphone in. I went on HPs website and found the audio drivers for my specific laptop and installed it rebooted it and still nothing. I have tried troubleshooting in the HP Jumpstart program, I have tried troubleshooting on windows still nothing. There is a cross next to the speaker symbol and microphone still don't work. Even in device manager under sound there is nothing but the NVidia sound programs, therefor I cant update or uninstall the drivers I already have. Some one help plz

Hi @John422,
I'm not sure if you've tried it already but try running the built-in troubleshooters:
- Open Settings
- Navigate to Troubleshoot
- Select the Audio troubleshooters
To be honest, these never really work so I don't expect anything to change. Check if you have any system restores available. In the Windows 10 Search bar, type in and enter "Create a Restore Point." If a restore point is available, the System Restore... button is clickable.
Otherwise, it might just be faster to do a system recovery or a reset.
I am currently preoccupied with both academic and professional priorities so please note that there may be a delay in my responses. Thank you for your understanding.
