When the computer is plugged in with gaming power, it freezes and lags. I cannot play games while charging. I have adjusted the power, graphics and performance settings in all settings, but when I enter the game, it freezes, fixes it and freezes again, and continues intermittently.

@mhmtgltkn50, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Game Freezes While Charging!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Experiencing game freezes and lags while charging your gaming laptop can be frustrating. Here are some troubleshooting steps to help you resolve the issue:

Update Drivers:

  • Ensure all drivers, including graphics drivers, are updated via Windows Update and the HP Support Assistant or OMEN Gaming Hub. Outdated drivers can cause compatibility issues and performance problems.

Check Power Settings:

  • Verify the power settings in OMEN Gaming Hub. Switching to "Performance Mode" or "Unleashed Mode" can help optimize settings for gaming. Adjust the CPU and GPU power limits to avoid any sudden power demands that might be causing the freezing.

Battery and Charging:

  • Ensure your battery capacity is maintained above 90%. This helps enable Hybrid Power, which supplies additional power and prevents the Maximum Battery Drain algorithm from reducing performance.

Close Background Applications:

  • Other software running in the background may consume CPU and GPU resources. Use tools like the OMEN Gaming Hub Booster feature to close nonessential apps automatically when a game starts.

Check Temperatures:

  • Monitor the thermal conditions. Ensure that your laptop's chassis temperature is not causing throttling that can lead to performance drops. You might also want to ensure your cooling system is functioning properly and not hindered by dust or debris.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
