Example: 15 Pavilion ab 035tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After installing new Windows in SSD, my laptop has started lagging during gaming while on Charge. The games run fine on Battery but On-charge it suddenly starts to lag a lot. During the SSD upgrade, I also got the Thermal Pastings of the Processor and  Graphics Card changed and added Thermal Pads to enhance cooling.

I have tried installing the latest NVIDIA Driver from their website and installed the BIOS again but it didn't help. Sometimes the Laptop even gets overheated while Gaming on Charge and shuts down.

Can you please suggest what else can I do?

@chapraf

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,
I understand that games are lagging when Notebook is on an ac adapter. I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

Firstly, perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant: (do not skip any troubleshooting steps if you feel steps are repeating)

To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.

Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.

  1. To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon https://support.hp.com/doc-images/932/c05040382.jpg.
  2. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  3. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  4. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  5. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  6. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

And, also run BIOS Update: Follow steps from the link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c00042629

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Dear Sir,

Thank You for your response. Though I keep my system updated, still I went for all the procedures that you asked for. But this doesn't seem to work.  Can you please recommend anything else?

The last thing I can suggest trying to restore a computer back to the factory default, which will isolate whether it’s a software or hardware issue.

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Dear Sir,

Thank You for your support. Recently I have realized, sometimes the system is getting heated(as the fan starts to rotate really fast), even during the normal operations, if it is plugged in. This doesn't happen on Battery and the fan slows down the moment I unplug the charger. It has all started since I upgraded to a 1 TB SSD and an additional 8 GB RAM(both Kingston). The previous HDD is mounted on the CD Drive using a Caddy. Do you think it can be due to these hardware changes?

Did you have a fix on this issue? Facing same issue but no response from anyone.

Hi,

The updates are not resolving the issues! I have tried all of them. Are you also facing this issue after upgrading to SSD?
