My 12 year old son has a HP 15-EC1108AX 15.6" Full HD Gaming Laptop (Ryzen 5) with 8GB RAM. He’s asked me to increase the RAM to 16GB.

I am in no way a tech guy so wondering if the community can help:

1) Can I upgrade the RAM for this model?

2) Is there a spare slot to put in another 8GB RAm? Or do I get one 16GB RAM and replace it?

3) If yes to the above 2 question, can you advise what RAM i should buy?

Thanks so much.

Hi:

Yes, you can add a second 8 GB memory chip in the empty slot.

Below is the link to the service manual where you can find the memory removal and replacement procedure.

Maintenance and Service Guide OMEN by HP 15 Laptop PC

This would be a compatible 8 GB DDR4-3200 memory chip.

Crucial 8GB DDR4-3200 SODIMM | CT8G4SFRA32A | Crucial.com

This place has the part number in Australia, but I'm searching blindly from the middle of the United States.

If you can find that part number for less money than the below site has it for, go for it.

Crucial 8GB(1x8) DDR4-3200 Memory Module | CT8G4SFRA32A | JW Computers
