HP OMEN 15 ek0000
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I've owned my OMEN laptop for a little over a year and it's been working fine until this past week. I opened it up one evening to find that the screen wouldn't turn on. It powers on and when I connect it to an external monitor using hdmi, it works fine. Therefore, I've come to the conclusion that my monitor may by dead. Is this an issue I can come back from with an internal part replacement? What part should I check for damage? I also have no experience working with internal hardware, is this something I can feasibly accomplish without destroying my laptop?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • When was the last time it worked without these issues?
  • Have you updated Graphics and Chipset drivers?

Let’s try these steps to resolve the problem:

I recommend you attempt to access the BIOS screen by tapping on F10 while the computer is restarting,

If the issue persists in the BIOS screen which is outside windows, it would confirm a hardware failure.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi Echo,

Thanks for the assistance. My laptop last worked this previous Tuesday. I was using it during the day, then made dinner and watched a movie. When I returned to use it at night, my screen wasn't turning on. I've checked the drivers, and they all say they are up to date.

I tried entering BIOS mode by restarting my laptop while tapping f10. Nothing happened on my screen, and it also wouldn't display anything on my external monitor. Is BIOS not supposed to show up on an external monitor? Either way, it didn't work so I would suspect a hardware failure.

Do you have any recommendations on what I should check for damage inside my laptop?

Thanks again

Thank you for posting back.

This seems like a hardware issue with the computer.
