OMEN 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-b1000 (4Z7T3AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi, I can't play video games anymore on my laptop HP OMEN 16-B1072NF.

Each time I launch a game, it crashed after 1 mn maximum.

The game starts to slow then freeze and crashed.

Examples of games I tried : CoD MW, FarCry 6, RDR2.

What is very strange is that it was working prety well, before but last 3 days impossible to play anything.

I didn't change or install anything new on my laptop.

Already checked for malwares there isn't any.

I also make a complete reinstallation of windows but the problem remains the same.

Even with the quality and details very low in the games it doesn't work.

May you please help me find a solution ?

Thanks.

Sincerly,

Leducs

Hi @Leducs,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It's frustrating to experience issues with gaming, especially when it was working well before. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem.

  • Update Graphics Drivers: Make sure your graphics drivers are up-to-date. Visit the official website of your GPU manufacturer (NVIDIA or AMD) and download the latest drivers for your specific model.
  • Check for Windows Updates: Ensure that your Windows operating system is fully updated. Sometimes, system updates can include important fixes that may resolve compatibility issues.
  • Monitor System Temperature: Overheating can cause performance issues and crashes. Install software like HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner to check your CPU and GPU temperatures while gaming. If they are running too hot, you may need to clean the laptop's cooling system or use a cooling pad.
  • Power Settings: Set your power plan to "High Performance" when gaming. This ensures that your laptop is running at maximum performance. You can do this by going to Power Options in the Control Panel.
  • Background Processes: Check for unnecessary background processes that might be consuming system resources. Close any unnecessary applications and disable startup programs.
  • RAM Check: Run a memory diagnostic tool to check for any issues with your RAM. You can do this by typing "Windows Memory Diagnostic" into the Windows search bar and following the on-screen instructions.
  • Disk Cleanup: Free up disk space by using the built-in Disk Cleanup tool. This can help improve system performance.
  • Adjust In-Game Settings: Try lowering the in-game graphics settings to the minimum and see if the problem persists. This can help identify if the issue is related to graphical demands.
  • Check for Malware: Even though you mentioned checking for malware, it's always good to run a full system scan using reputable antivirus software.
  • Restore to a Previous State: If the issue started recently, consider using System Restore to revert your system to a previous state when the games were working fine. Be aware that this will undo any changes made to the system after the selected restore point.

Remember to back up important data before performing any major changes to your system.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
