OMEN 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-c0000 (343L4AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I bought two HP Omen 16 laptops for work in Jan 2023 - great price for spec here in NZ (AMD CPU and 6600M variant).

Like everyone else, I had problems with external monitors - screen dropping out to black randomly, black squares and artefacts in 3D apps / games (not that I play much, we use the GPU for work stuff) and redraw problems in all kinds of apps on any connected external monitor.

Followed the earlier threads on this and likewise, no combination of drivers etc appeared to work.

I tried connecting the external monitor via HDMI, mini DP... No change.

HOWEVER - when I connected the external monitor using a USB-C hub with HDMI output, and from that to the external monitor, all the problems vanished. Running latest F18 BIOS, last AMD drivers suggested for the laptop donwloaded from HP.

Both machines worked, and with different USB-C hubs. No idea if that's of any use to anyone here, but has saved me having to return otherwise excellent laptops at awesome price and replacing with inferior specs or much more expensive machines.
