Hi @BG162,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP OMEN 16 is not showing the GRUB menu after trying to install Ubuntu alongside Windows, even after several attempts. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

    a. Check BIOS Settings
        • Reboot and enter BIOS (press F10 during startup).
        • Ensure Secure Boot is disabled. Ubuntu cannot boot with Secure Boot enabled on some OMEN models.
        • Ensure the Boot Mode is set to UEFI (not Legacy).

    b. Check Boot Order
        • In BIOS → Boot Options → make sure the Ubuntu/GRUB entry is first or above Windows Boot Manager.
        • Sometimes the Ubuntu installer doesn’t add GRUB to the top of the boot list.

    c. Reinstall/Repair GRUB
        • Boot from the Ubuntu live USB (Try Ubuntu without installing).
        • Open a terminal and mount your Ubuntu partition:
sudo mount /dev/sdXY /mnt (replace XY with your Ubuntu partition)
        • Reinstall GRUB:
            sudo grub-install --boot-directory=/mnt/boot /dev/sdX
        • Update GRUB config:
            sudo update-grub
        • Reboot and check if GRUB appears.

    d. Disable Fast Startup in Windows
        • Open Control Panel → Power Options → Choose what the power buttons do → Turn off Fast Startup.
        • Fast Startup can prevent the system from showing GRUB.

    e. Check Partition Scheme
        • Ensure Ubuntu is installed on an ext4 partition and not inside a Windows partition.
        • Confirm that there’s a small EFI System Partition (ESP) shared with Windows for boot files.

    f. Alternative Boot Manager
        • If GRUB still doesn’t show, you can use rEFInd as a boot manager to detect both Windows and Ubuntu.

I hope this helps.
