Lately my HP omen 15 has been getting random lags spikes from a normal 130+ FPS to around 20 for a solid 10 seconds, before jumping back. I wondered why this was so i jumped onto HWMonitor to find my CPU running at very close to 100 degrees Celcius. I have an i7 7700HQ, GTX1050ti . Im not playing any intensive games as such, just some rocket league.
Monitor: 1920x1080, 120hz
I've run some testing, while playing rocket league for about 25 minutes:
Using HWMonitor:
CPU: 95-100 degrees
GPU: 80 degrees
Using Speedfan:
Fan1: 4800RPM
Fan2: 100RPM (not a typo, 100 rpm.)
i can only assume fan2 is the CPU fan.
Task manager:
CPU usage: 45-50%
GPU usage: 99%
The laptop itself, full specs:

I bought it from a local Centrecom.
thanks in advance.

Welcome to HP Forums,
This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out!
As I understand your device is overheating and has lags/spikes during games,
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
Did you update the BIOS? (Click here to find and install the chipset & graphics card drivers along with the BIOS update)
Have you used the HP Omen controller to test the temperatures?
(As HP doesn't recommend using 3rd party tools/apps to check the temperature as it may not be accurate)
Did you get any errors related to the CPU Fan? (If yes, visit this link for assistance: https://hp.care/2zINpsE )
While you respond to that, here's what you need to know:
Generally, when temperatures inside the case rise above 35 degrees Celsius (95 degrees Fahrenheit), the risk of damaging important internal components increases greatly and I recommend using the steps in the below link to have it addressed:
Use this link: https://hp.care/2sFzEsK to reduce the heat (If need be)
(By the end of this article all the issues should be resolved)
If the issue persists, please Contact HP to have the device repaired:
HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:
* Open link: https://hp.care/2moMFSc
* Enter Product number or select to auto detect
* Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
* Scroll down and click on HP contact options - click on Get a Case & phone number.
They will be happy to assist you immediately.
If the unit is under warranty repair services under the manufacturer's warranty will be free of charge.
If you would like to thank me for my efforts to help you,
feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,
Followed by clicking on the "Accept as solution".
Have a great day!
