HP Recommended

I opened my laptop up recently to replace some parts. I accidentally slightly  punctured the edge one of the cables, but from what I can gather it was only the USB/Card reader cable. However now when I try to turn my computer on it the red light and fans turns on for a second, then I hear a click and the light and fans turns off for 5 seconds  before starting again.

 

Have i really screwed up here? What’s the problem?
