OMEN Laptop - 15-en0023dx
Microsoft Windows 11

Greetings,

I have an HP Omen 15 that received a "firmware" update via Windows Update (Windows 11) today. After performing the update, the laptop doesn't display anything on the screen (even the OMEN logo that is normally there on boot). I've tried the WIN+B+power key and the WIN+V+power key thing and still nothing.

I can hear the Windows 11 startup sound go off when I boot it up, and I can turn on the keyboard backlight. I don't have a way to connect the laptop to an external monitor, either.

Anyone have any suggestions for me? Thanks in advance for any replies!

Well, good news. I was able to track down an HDMI cable and the laptop was viable via the HDMI connection.

I downloaded the latest BIOS firmware from HP and flashed that file, even when it said that the "current BIOS is newer than the one you are trying to flash." After that, my screen flickered like crazy on first boot, but then it came back up and my laptop display worked again.

Lesson learned: don't flash firmware via Windows Update.

This disaster happened to me. Reflashing the bios from HP as you described fixed it! Thank you !!
