HP Omen 15-dc0034nu
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I just bought a bran new HP Omen 15-dc0034nu and I'm observing very anoying vertical strips on colors:

received_299068600936059[1].jpeg

Is most obvious on blue color and I can see it from 30cm distance. I hoped they'll disappear when I install the video driver but they didn't. It's like there is vertical line with darker color with 1 pixel width.

I connected my TV which is also 1920x1080 and picture looks good.

I tried in vain to play with some DPI settings as some articles suggested.

So what is this? 😕 Defective display? or I'm missing some setting here?

@sagoth,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

Thank you for posting your query on this forum, it's a great place to find answers.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you update the BIOS and the graphics driver from the below link and check whether the issue is resolved.

BIOS: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp92001-92500/sp92193.exe

Graphics Intel: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp88501-89000/sp88838.exe

Graphics Nvidia: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp88501-89000/sp88935.exe

If you continue facing the issue, I recommend you download and install HP support assistant from the below link and install all the updates.

http://www8.hp.com/in/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_in/en/any/psg/pl...

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

  6. Perform any other update management actions as needed.

    • Postpone an update: Click Remind me, and then select a time preference.

    • Delete an available update: Click the Delete icon  to remove the update from the list and record it in the action log.

Hello,

Before posting here I've:

- updated the BIOS and graphics driver.

- installed HP Support Assistant and then installed all updates which were available.

The issue persist.

What I found recently is that the strips are *much less* obvious in the area 1cm from the left border of the screen.

So it looks to me like a bad display and not soft/firmware issue.

@sagoth,

Thank you for your response and it is great to hear from you. Your efforts and competence are immensely appreciated. As @The_Fossette is out for the day, I am responding on his behalf.

Connect an external screen such as a TV via an HDMI cable and check if the issue persists. if the display on the external screen is normal, then it is a hardware issue with the notebook. and it needs to be repaired.

Also, check in the bios if the issue gets replicated. Steps to go to the bios:

  • Keep tapping the Esc key gently several times as soon as you power on the computer.
  • It takes you to the startup menu.
  • Then press the F10 key to go the bios.
  • Check if the issue persists on this screen to isolate the issue correctly.
  • Then press the  F9 key load setup defaults and select yes and push “enter.”
  • Then press F10 to save changes and exit and check if it still boots to the screen that you described.

If it persists in the bios, then the computer needs to be repaired as it is an issue with the display. I will send you a private message to assist you with the next course of action. Check your forum private message box in the upper right corner next to the bell icon.

Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂
