Hey guys,
So, this is as issue my one year old laptop has had for pretty much its entire life but I haven't posted about it till now. The laptop, to put it in an understatement, overheats.
Whenever I play a game (unless its a really, really low-intensity game), the cores get up to temperatures for 99-100 C. I've tried all the BIOS updates and all the rest of the updates. I've also tried reducing the processor power in the BIOS from 'default' to '30'. I've also tried undervolting the CPU Core and Cache down to .165 mV, when it started BSODing.
The only thing that seems to work is unplugging the laptop. The laptop does not overheat then, and while there's a bit of a tradeoff in performance it's not very pronounced. I checked the 'processor power management' settings, and they're exactly the same for plugged in and on battery. So I'm assuming this somewhere links with how HP handles being plugged in or on battery.
There must be a better way to fix this.
Edit: Also, curiously, the Omen app never notices that the temp is above 90. I had to install a separate monitor to find that out.
Edit 2: I just tried Halo MCC; on battery I'm at 62 C with 30 FPS and on power I'm at 98C with 60 FPS,
