hp omen 15-ce097nx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi 🙂

i recently got my new HP OMEN 15-ce097nx

cpu: core i7 7700hq

gpu: gtx 1060 max-q

i noticed that the cpu and overall temperature are high especially when playing games

on the hp command center the temperature listed under "cpu" is 47 to 50 degree celsius when idle, and it become 80 to 87 degree when playing high graphic games such as need for speed 2016, battlefield 4, pubg

and sometimes it reaches 90 to 91 degree

on the speedfan software it shows the core temperature for each cores around 70 to 75 degree and the overall temperature is the same as it shown in the hp command center

this happen after about 2 to 5 minutes from starting the game

also i feel the laptop in my hand is very hot after sometime

my room temperature is normal between 23 to 26 in air condition room

the laptop is on flat surface with proper ventilation

didn't do any changes, and didn't experience any freezing or crushing games or anything at all, i'm just concern about the overheating

my question is : is this normal or not, the laptop is brand new i'm just using it the last 3 days

and if it normal or not please explain 🙂

NOTE: the GPU temp does not exceed 78 degree, and usually its between 70 to 75 degree

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand you had a few questions about the notebook's temperature.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help. 🙂

It is normal with Omen since it comes with liquid coolant system which would rapidly coll the device when it heat's up. 🙂

However if in case, you face any performance issues then you could follow the troubleshooting steps given below.

There are many ways to increase FPS and system performance:

  • Update the BIOS.

For desktop PCs, go to HP Desktop PCs - Updating the BIOS

For notebook PCs, go to HP Notebook PCs - Updating the BIOS

  • Update the graphics driver.

Go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, enter your PC model, then select the driver for your graphics card.

  • Most games allow you to change the graphics settings. Using a lower graphic quality often improves FPS.

  • Close any applications or programs that are not being used.

  • Turn on Game Mode. Game Mode is a new feature in Windows 10 Creators Update that improves gaming performance by limiting background processes and programs from using system resources while a game is running.

Let me know how that pans out.

I hope you have a good day ahead,

Thanks for your respond

I don't have prformance issues, the device is working perfectly

just the tempreture i was worried about

I updated the bios and enabled game mode as u recomended and the results is :

The tempruter droped afew degrees 🙂

now it's between 83 and 86, and as soon as it reaches 87 the fan noise gets high and rapedly drope the tempreture to 82 or 83 🙂 🙂

NOW is this the normal range for the cpu tempruture?? i think so!!
