Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Had this just over a year so out of warranty. Only issue I've ever had is the power adapter gets hot sometimes.

Was using laptop the other day, logged out and went to bed, went to work the next day, arrive home to laptop off and won't turn on.

I took the power adapter to a friend who has a multimeter. It's getting power to the tip that plugs into the laptop just fine.

I opened the bottom and verified the battery looks okay. I cleaned some dust out of the fans and closed her back up. I did not think to see if I could see the connector for power where it connects to the motherboard is okay  I'll take a look tonight.

Anywway, I unplugged battery and tried to boot with no luck. A Google search says try holding the power button for one minute. No luck.

Anything else I should try before contacting HP? If I send it for repair I wonder if I can erase the hard drive before hand? I'm going to copy my data off and save it. I have an m.2 to USB adapter.

Well, I tried to plug her in once more. I thought I'd wiggle the cable to see if maybe it's bad even though it appeared fine. The motherboard is now fried. A small bzz noise and a black spot in the middle.

Think shes still worth trying to repair or not? She cost me $1400 + interest because it's on financing and still not paid off.
