So a few days ago I could feel my laptop's battery starting to swell. I powered everything down and disconnected all of the cables and began removing the back panel to take it apart. Turns out - battery was definitely swollen. I was thinking about buying a new one when I read online that it was possible to power my computer without having a battery attached to it. I removed the battery and plugged in the AC Charging Cable (the stock one that came with the laptop that has not had any faultiness). The laptop won't turn on at all; however, the white light on the side of the laptop next to charging port is a solid white - no blinking. I figure "well, I guess this must mean the laptop needs a battery," right?

I ordered a new battery and replaced the swollen one. Plugged the cable in and waited a good 2 hours or so, laptop still won't start up. No fan sound, nothing. Tried the hard reset method (unplug AC cable, take out battery, hold down power button for 30 seconds, reattach battery, turn on), and nothing. Is my laptop toast? Once I plug in the battery, there's an orange light that turns white over time so I know it's charging. Problem is, the **bleep** thing won't start up at all.
