My first thread: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Gaming-Notebooks/HP-Omen-17-CK1020NR-Problems/m-p/8868343#M56029
HP support never sent me any private message to assist me further with my problems

I also have a new problem to add to the ones in the first thread:
While using this laptop, it is EXTREMELY easy to accidentally press one of the keyboard light profile buttons instead of CTRL or one of the other buttons on the left side of the keyboard
This means I'll be working on something, then all of the sudden my keyboard enters a very annoying animated light-show mode. I have searched and there is apparently no way to disable these annoying macros. Who wants to deal with this nonsense with a laptop?
And to disable the annoying light show I have to load up the slow bloatware that is the omen gaming hub.
I really regret buying this laptop. If you've stumbled upon this and are considering purchasing a HP Omen gaming laptop, I recommend you go with a different brand

I know how to change the light settings on the keyboard
I indicated in my first post that I already know that 🙄

The problem is this stupid laptop has KEYBINDS that CANNOT BE CHANGED. Those keybinds cause my light-up keyboard to enter into an extremely annoying animated light-show while I'm trying to get work done

Hi @justletmepost,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear about your ongoing issues with your HP Omen 17-CK1020NR laptop. It sounds quite frustrating, especially when dealing with unintended keyboard light profile activations. Here are a few suggestions that might help resolve or mitigate the issue:

Keyboard Remapping: One possible workaround is to remap the keyboard light profile buttons to other, less disruptive functions, or disable them entirely if possible. This can often be done through third-party software designed for keyboard customization, like SharpKeys or AutoHotkey. While these tools won't change the hardware buttons, they can help avoid accidental presses affecting your work.

Gaming Hub Alternatives: While the Omen Gaming Hub software can be slow and cumbersome, it might be worth exploring whether there are any updates or patches that improve its performance. Additionally, you might look into alternative software solutions that allow you to manage your laptop’s settings more efficiently, though compatibility might vary.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
