Dear All

 

I would like to ask a simple question because I cannot find the answer anywhere.  On my laptop, can I watch anything in 4K? If so, where?

Machine has following ports

 

1 USB 3.1 Type-C™ (Data Transfer up to 5 Gb/s, DP1.2, HP Sleep and Charge);

3 USB 3.1 Gen 1 (1 HP Sleep and Charge);

1 Mini DisplayPort™;

1 HDMI;

1 RJ-45;

1 headphone/microphone combo;

1 microphone-in

 

The USB-C port with DP1.2 is the only hope but this is known having problem with video out. The Mini DisplayPort™; and HDMI won't give you UHD (or 4K) output. Therefore option is

Actually, that series comes with HDMI 2.0 (4K 60Hz) and Display Port 1.2 so I don't know why it wouldn't support a 4K screen.

You should NOT have to purchase a Docking station just to connect a 4K TV. Even the previous Omen series would connect to 4K.  Look at the manual... http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06001792

 

@mjh2222  Is that what you are asking, or did you mean you don't know what software to use to watch a UHD movie with?
