Hello,

yesterday my HP Omen Laptop, which i was working with, just stopped and i haven't been able to start it again since.

It is 3 years old and has been working fine since then. I always keep the computer connected to the power source.

I get no signals whatsoever, no sounds, no lights (CAPS etc). The start LED gets red for a few seconds when i push on the start button, then goes off and that's it. The small power source LED near the power cable is white or orange for a few seconds, then white (looks like the battery is fully loaded). It is also white when connect to the power source without battery (no blinking). Everything looks as it should. I disconnected all the peripherals (printer, SSD external drive, mouse) before trying the following:

- starting with battery without being connected to the power source

- starting connected to power source with the battery removed

- with battery removed: push on power button for 30 seconds, several times, then connect to power source and start

- removed and installed the RAM again

With always the same results: power LED gets red for a few seconds, then stops. Nothing happens.

inside the computer everything looks fine, no obvious signs of failure.

My best guess right now is that the battery could be dead (because of the way i use the computer, always connected to the power source). Honestly, it does not look like it but it could be. But then, why doesn't the computer start when connected to the power source AND the battery is removed? I have read somewhere that for recent laptops (which this one could belong to), sometimes they cannot start when deprived of a battery, even when connected to a power source. So trying with a battery i know is working fine would be my next try. What do you people think?

Any other ideas?? The laptop is brand new and i have been taking great care of it. I never move it. I'm clueless.

Cheers,

Nicolas

Hi @nico378,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

I see that you are facing an issue with your Laptop that is not powering on.

Follow the below steps to fix the issue.

-Perform a drain on your PC.

1) Unplug the power cord from the PC & wall.

2) Disconnect the power cable from the AC adapter if it is a detachable part and keep it aside.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the AC adapter, then connect it to the wall and to the charging port on your PC.

5) Power on the PC and check if it boots into Windows now.

-Try connecting an alternate charger which is compatible to confirm if there is an issue with the charger or try the same charger on another laptop that uses the same type of charging port.

Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!

Hi,

thanks for your answer.

I have tried the power drain many times already, just not exactly how you describe it (see my preceding message)..

Am i not supposed to disconnect the battery before holding the power button? Anyways, the computer does not start.

I haven't tried another AC adapter as i don't have access to one. The power adapter seems to work though: the small LED is on when i connect it to the computer and has the color white.

Cheers,

Nicolas
