HP omen 17X5W65EA
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello!
I have HP Omen 17-w010ur and i got a overheating problem which later leads to a sharp drop in frames in the game. It doesn’t matter what game I play, starting from CUPHEAD ending with PUBG at max graphics everything goes fine 60-90 FPS and then a sharp drop into FPS to 3-15 and everything freezes, it goes on for a few seconds, then everything returns to normal. The interval is about 30 seconds. IT is countinuing non stop
HWmonitor downloaded during the game the core temperature is somewhere 80-90 degrees.
Please tell me what to do?
I read the forum and decided to update the graphics drivers, I thought to update the BIOS, but I could not find where bitlocker is on my computer and did not dare to update the BIOS because people wrote that it was better not to do this without setting bitlocker!
please help me!

Hello @lgoog

You dont need to mess with Bitlocker. You obviously have not set it up already or you would know.

Your bios should be version F5.0.

Open the HP Support Assistant, click on Device specifications and you can see what version is already installed.

Make sure your heat vents are not blocked.

Also, I would run Task Manager during gaming. Choose the CPU column to highlight and monitor what services are running that would take up a lot of resourses when the freeze occurs. There could be something running in the background periodically and possibly trying to update or such, like an anti virus program for example.

Thank you for such a fast answer!

-About bios version is : insyde F.38 (24.05.2017)
How do i upgrade it? Do i just download it from HP site? do i need to do something with Bitlocker?

-Heat vents are not closed more over i got my PC on "Trust Azul Laptop Cooling Stand with dual fans" plugged in.

-About CPU i monitored it and didnt notice anything strange beside the fact that when i got a frame drop CPU activity drops from 60%(normal fps) to 12-20%(low fps for few sec) and then it immideatly comes back.

Usually, there will be a service that will be eating up resources at the moment the cpu drops out.

If you can identifiy that in the task manager, you can go to Services and disable that specific service.

You can use the HP Support Assistant to search for current updates.

You can download drivers directly from the HP site also.

You can also download this file and run it to update the bios...
