HP Omen 15-dh1018na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

For the past few months, I have noticed that my HP Omen 15 experiences a slight pause/freeze approximately every 1 second. This occurs even when I am not running applications; I notice it when I am simply moving my mouse slowly from left to right - I can see it pause slightly. The same occurs when I am using simple applications like Word, etc. The tempo at which the freeze occurs is not random; rather, it literally occurs according to a consistent pace - about every second. Additionally, when I put my ear close to the laptop, I can hear a very feint, soft buzzing noise which stops every 1 second - this coincides perfectly with when the freezes occur.

I have tried reinstalling windows, updating to the latest drivers and updating to the latest BIOS (using HP Assistant). Nothing has worked.

I bought the laptop brand new around February of this year and initially did not have these problems.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks

Hello, thank you very much for your response. I wanted to give an update on this post as I managed to figure out the problem.

I sent the laptop to a local repair center; they were unable to replicate the micro-stutter I was experiencing and sent it back.

Upon receiving the laptop back, I proceeded to reinstall software and discovered that the iCUE4 software that comes with my Corsair headphones was causing the stutter. Uninstalling this software fixed the problem entirely.

I hope this proves useful to anyone experiencing this problem in the future.

kind regards,

Jeremy

Just to clarify the feint buzzing noise - based on some further research, the noise appears to be what is commonly described as 'coil whine' or 'capacitor squeal'. Again, every time this sound pauses, my PC also pauses. I think I may need to contact HP as my laptop is still under warranty.
