I have a 2018 HP Omen and my battery failed in the middle of a game. This is the second time it has happened in 3 months. The first time was due to me keeping it plugged in and the battery swelled. I got a new battery and it only lasted 3 months. I have taken the battery out and have tried using wall power but the charging light doesn’t turn on. 

When there is a working battery the charging port works as it should. Orange light indicates charging and white light indicates fully charged. There are no lights while my battery is removed or dead. 

Why can’t I run my laptop on wall power?

Hello,

This is the most likely culprit. If the charging circuitry on your laptop's motherboard is faulty, it might not be providing power to the system even with the AC adapter plugged in, unless a functional battery is present to "regulate" or complete the circuit. This is why it works with a good battery.      dog sounds
