Hello,
i really do hope HP fixes their Omen Gaming Hub
It is a complete mess and the laptop depends on it working.
These are the the problems i have with the Gaming Hub
Omen Gaming Hub
- is very slow and laggy
- is overbloated and contains advertisements
- has only a few useful settings for power limits, it should have an easy way to limit GPU and CPU TDP
- fan curves have limited range (only 2000 rpm and up)
- has a problem with switching between performance modes, the FN+P shortcus does not always work and feels laggy, lenovos way always worked
- the ECO mode always sets 60Hz Refresh Rate and additionally imposes an FPS limit of 60fps in the NV Control Panel, there is no option to disable this automatic behavior
Deinstalling the Hub eliminates the automatic switching and fan problems, but then you are left without options to
- configure LED
- switch between Discrete and Integrated Graphics
- Switch Power Settings
- other stuff that should be controlled

You post is not helpful at all.
Update Omen Gaming Hub and SDK
Everything was up to date, the gaming hub, windows, the SDK, just everyhting!
Repair or Reset the App
It was working as intended, that app is **bleep**, sorry for the language, but there is no other way to describe it, the problem is your bloated OMEN Gaming Hub, you need to remove all non-essential functions from that APP, then it will be faster, all the AI Crap, all the advertisement, just everything ecxept performance mode switching and fan curves
Adjust Background Performance Settings
There is no need, the app is slow, the Laptop is not
Customize Power and Fan Control Through Windows
That would be literally the only reason to have the Gaming Hub since you can't tweak power and fan control in windows, are you an AI Bot?
Additionally you didn't go into the automatic FPS limting stuff with eco mode.
Summary:
Fix your **bleep** software, we all paid good money for your products and only need Fan Curves, maybe 2 Performance Tweaks (GPU / CPU Power Limit) and the control over the RGB

I understand your HP Omen Max 16 is experiencing multiple issues with the Omen Gaming Hub, such as lag, limited controls, and inconsistent performance mode switching. Let’s go through a few steps to help stabilize and optimize the Gaming Hub’s performance.
Update Omen Gaming Hub and SDK
Open Microsoft Store, select Library, then click Get Updates.
Ensure both Omen Gaming Hub and Omen SDK Package are updated to their latest versions, as outdated SDKs often cause lag and mode-switching delays.
Repair or Reset the App
Go to Settings → Apps → Installed Apps → Omen Gaming Hub → Advanced Options.
Click Repair first to fix missing or corrupted app files. If the issue persists, click Reset to restore default settings without reinstalling Windows.
Reinstall Omen Hub Components
If the app continues to lag or misbehave:
Uninstall Omen Gaming Hub and Omen SDK Package.
Restart your laptop.
Reinstall both from the Microsoft Store only — avoid third-party mirrors to ensure compatibility.
Adjust Background Performance Settings
Disable unnecessary Omen services from startup:
Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc → Startup Apps.
Set Omen Gaming Hub Background Service to “Disabled.”
This prevents it from running unnecessary background processes that slow the app.
Customize Power and Fan Control Through Windows
While waiting for a more stable Gaming Hub update, you can manually tune performance:
Use Windows Power Options or NVIDIA Control Panel to set custom GPU limits.
For fans, third-party monitoring tools (like HWInfo) can display RPM data while keeping the system stable.
I hope this helps.

I found a good thread on reddit, it pretty much says it all
https://www.reddit.com/r/HPOmen/comments/18eqirl/any_alternatives_to_omen_hub_performance_modes/
You need to simplify that essential APP for your Laptop experience if you want to get a better reputation.
From my point of view, at the state of the software, i cannot in good conscience recommend an HP Laptop
And i am angry i tried to save a few bucks and went for the Omen Max 16 instead of the lenovo legion, that one has proper software.

Good news, 1 thing was fixed during recent updates
When changing to eco mode, the screen still automatically goes to 60 Hz, but at least it does not change the max fps in the nvidia driver anymore, now
Omen Gaming Hub still
- is very slow and laggy
- is overbloated and contains advertisements
- has only a few useful settings for power limits, it should have an easy way to limit GPU and CPU TDP
- fan curves have limited range (only 2000 rpm and up)
- has a problem with switching between performance modes, the FN+P shortcus does not always work and feels laggy, lenovos way always worked
- the ECO mode always sets 60Hz Refresh Rate with no way to change it

Hi @alistaire85,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I’m sorry you’re going through this; I understand the concern and don’t worry I’ll help you with this.
To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?
Are you running the latest version of Omen Gaming Hub from the Microsoft Store or HP’s support site?
Do the laggy menus happen right after startup, or only when switching modes (like FN+P)?
Have you noticed if uninstalling/reinstalling the app improves responsiveness, even temporarily?
Here are a few troubleshooting steps worth trying:
- Update Omen Gaming Hub: Make sure you’re on the latest version.
- Check for driver/BIOS updates: Use HP Support Assistant to update chipset, GPU, and BIOS. Outdated firmware can limit fan curve and TDP options.
- Clean reinstall: Uninstall Omen Gaming Hub, restart, and reinstall. This can clear corrupted settings that cause lag.
- Disable background apps: Lag can worsen if other monitoring tools (like MSI Afterburner) run alongside Gaming Hub. Try disabling them temporarily.
- Registry/Windows reset of Gaming Hub: In Windows Settings → Apps → Omen Gaming Hub → Advanced Options, you can “Reset” the app without uninstalling.
- Refresh rate workaround: In ECO mode, if it locks to 60Hz, try manually changing refresh rate in Windows Display Settings after switching modes.
When you say the FN+P shortcut feels laggy, does it eventually switch modes after a delay, or does it sometimes fail entirely? That detail will help figure out if it’s a software bug or a hardware hotkey issue.
I hope this helps.

Excuse me sir,
either you are retarded or an AI bot, did you read the recent entries in this thread?
I think not, if you are an AI bot, you are a bad one.
If you are a real person, get better at your job or quit.
