OMEN by HP - 17-an012dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I currently own an HP Omen in which I bought a couple years back. I recently started gaming into this laptop and about 10-15 minutes into it, my computer black screens. At first I believed that it was because of my drivers that needed to be updated. Keep in mind that I can only play games in which doesn't involve my computer running on high performance (Something like Stardew Valley would work fine). After updating my drivers, I started to game once more (Rainbow Six Siege). After 15 minutes into gaming, it blacks screens again, making me reset my computer yet again.  I looked into forums but seems like I couldn't find the solution to my problem. What can I do?

Does this issue happen only while playing games?

I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also ensure Windows is up to date.

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Keep me posted how it goes

I tried downloading it yesterday but is stuck on an endless loop of "Completing Installation".

Note that I just cleaned my laptop yesterday with a can of air and didn't seem to solve the problem. Any other solutions?

Try updating the BIOS from this Link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers

Also download and run the AMD Auto Detect Tool to check for the latest Graphics Driver. Please follow the instructions in this Link: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-131

Keep me posted 😊

So I managed to download the HP Support and turned out that I was missing a ton of updates and a windows update as well. For some reason the windows database was corrupted and was not letting me update windows. After many hours of trying to find a solution, I then decided to reset my computer and surely enough, windows was able to update as well as the other updates that I was missing for this computer. Any who, I tried gaming once more after updating it and no luck. Still crashes as usual. I decided that I will be taking my laptop to a local repair shop and see what they can do from there. If all else fails, I'll just start investing into a PC build or a different laptop

Thank you so much for your help @KrazyToad
