HP Omen
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Product: OMEN 15-Dc1057nr

OS: Windows 10 (64-Bit)

It’s been doing this since the day I got it so I doubt it’s dust. Just starting the laptop will make the fans kick on and the cpu temp shown by Omen Command Center is anywhere from 55-70 degrees Celsius. It jumps back and forth even when not doing anything and the fan is always running hard. Just opening a web browser (I’ve fried them all) bumps the temp up to 80-89 degrees Celsius.

I ran the HP Support Assistant and the only upgrade it showed was the BIOS. The first time I attempted to install it, I got to the final part but my laptop just went black. Had to restart and do it again, it got through everything but my laptop is still showing a March date when then update says April.

I haven’t even attempted to play a game because I’m afraid it’s going to damage the computer. I should have returned it to the store but it’s past the return period so I’m hoping I can figure it out.

@Bgreen11

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

use the following steps:

  • Shut down the computer, and then inspect and clean the exterior vents to remove dust buildup by blowing air through the vent openings. Dust can accumulate inside the vent openings and around internal cooling components, preventing the removal of heat.

For more information on reducing heat inside your computer, see Reducing Heat Inside the PC.

  • After you remove the dust, turn on the computer. If the error message persists, continue with these steps.
  • Perform a hard reset. Performing a hard reset can reset recorded thermal values in memory and enable you to use the computer again, even if only for a short time to access and save any important files before service.

For more information on performing a hard reset, see Use Hard Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues.

  • In some cases, updating the BIOS might help prevent this error from occurring. For more information on how to update the BIOS, see Updating the BIOS.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
