I have the same issue and HP contacted me pithing a day, they offered a pickup and repair to replace the battery for a cost of almost 500 pounds.

 

This is rubbish there's no way that this type of li-ion battery failure is acceptable.

 

I've contacted a friendly lawyer regarding this being covered by The Sale of Goods Act 1979 the updated the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and further more the consumer-protection act 1987.

I said that I did not accept the offer of making me pay for a battery service and they still closed the support case on me!

Also I've seen at least two other customers have had free battery replacements
