HP Omen swollen battery ... twice now

So I have been watching my laptop and have noticed that now a SECOND time the battery is swelling.  I had it replaced in 2019, but here we are, 2 years later, and it's doing it again.  I marked it to see if maybe it was just the case itself (the first battery swelling actually was so bad that it permanently altered the case - permanently raising the area to the right of the trackpad).  I don't even know what to do at this point.  Please help!!!  Is this something that I can change out myself???  I HATE thinking about sending my laptop in again.  This will make the third problem.  I am a VERY loyal HP customer, but I'm becoming frustrated at this point.

"Fat" Battery / Bloated Battery / Swollen Battery – Sealed / Internal Battery

• Swollen battery might be hiding OR there might be evidence that the battery has inflated.  For example, notebook case is warped, touchpad stops working, “odd” bulging near the keyboard.

• If the battery is in a swollen or bloated condition, the battery must be removed from the computer and replaced.  There are no other remedies, tests, or useful options.

Yes, the battery is something you can change out yourself.

You can look up the information, find a video to help,

purchase a compatible battery, and install it into the computer.

What if?

IF, after looking up the how-to information you decide you cannot do this,

any competent, local computer technician can change out the battery for you.

What about "HP" battery?

No need - all batteries are made by battery manufacturers.

You need a compatible battery using the part number as reference - not a name-brand battery.

If you want someone to look up the computer model information for you,

Tell us your computer product number / exact model name.

Finding your Product Name, Product Number, or Serial Number

• Look for and open the Maintenance and Service guide for your computer (document name varies)
• Search for “Battery” to find parts and replacement  >> Read the chapter on Replacement Procedures

1. The exact name of the service document varies, though usually the word "service" or "maintenance" is included in the name. 
2. The "Service Guide" and "User Guide" are not the same documents.

I was able to replace the battery thanks to your post guiding me in finding the correct replacement and a YouTube video of a gentleman changing a battery in the exact same laptop (HP videos were of no help - not even close to the same laptop). 

My problem now is ... what do I do with the defective battery???  I didn't have to worry about it the first time HP changed it out, but now that I decided to just figure it out for myself and not wiling to wait a week to get my laptop back, I'm stuck with a defective/bloated/swollen battery that I can't dispose of. 

Any suggestions?

As to the battery - 

Hopefully you live in a area where you can arrange disposal for waste of this sort.

Many urban and metropolitan communities in the USA provide this type of service.

The "swollen" state notwithstanding, disposal likely follows the same guidelines as for any battery that should not be sent to landfill.

Search foe "e-waste disposal"  or perhaps "computer battery disposal" in your area.
