Hello Members,

I was trying to reinstall Windows 11 on my Omen laptop and unfortunately it was not on power and battery died on me which corrupts the software. Now when trying to reboot in it kept stucking at undoing changes followed by 2 options (both are Windows on volume 5) and whatever I select it simply stucks at black screen forever with no way to proceed.

I have tried to get into safe mode..but its not responding.. F11 states "undoing changes" followed by same options and Shift+F8 don't work either.

Please guide.

Regards

Hi @gargravish,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're facing an issue with your Windows installation after a power failure during the reinstallation process. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the problem:

Restart in Safe Mode:

  • Try to restart your laptop and repeatedly press the F8 key or Shift + F8 during the boot process to enter Safe Mode.
  • Once in Safe Mode, you can attempt to uninstall any recently installed updates or drivers that might be causing the issue.

System Restore:

  • If you have a restore point created before the issue occurred, you can try to perform a system restore.
  • Restart your laptop and press the F11 key (or another key specific to your laptop model) during the boot process to access the advanced startup options.
  • Select "Troubleshoot" > "Advanced options" > "System Restore" and follow the on-screen instructions.

Boot from Installation Media:

  • If you have a Windows installation USB or DVD, you can try to boot from it.
  • Insert the installation media and restart your laptop.
  • Press the appropriate key (usually F2, F10, F12, or Esc) during the boot process to enter the BIOS/UEFI settings.
  • Set the boot priority to the installation media.
  • Save changes and exit, then follow the on-screen instructions to repair or reinstall Windows.

Command Prompt:

  • Boot from the installation media and choose the "Repair your computer" option.
  • Go to "Troubleshoot" > "Advanced options" > "Command Prompt."
  • Use command prompt commands to check and repair the file system: chkdsk /f /r C:

Reinstall Windows:

  • If none of the above methods work, you might need to reinstall Windows from scratch.
  • Boot from the installation media and choose the "Install now" option.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall Windows.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
